The Baltimore-Ashkelon Partnership, launched in 2003, has set people-to-people connections as its top priority. Through a variety of venues, the Partnership provides a wonderful opportunity for Baltimoreans and Ashkelonians to bond with their brothers and sisters overseas on issues of shared concern.

Partnership Update

Israel has been going through rough times. Last month, a missile struck Ashkelon. Fortunately, no one was injured or killed (Read Sigal Ariely’s blog post). However, the emotional trauma was great. Simultaneously, skirmishes on the Lebanon-Israel border led Israelis to feel uneasy, at best. We all pray for a peaceful tomorrow.

In Baltimore, however, Israeli youth were having an incredible time at the 2010 JCC Maccabi Games. Ten members of the delegation were from Ashkelon! See video clips from their experience. Check out photos on our Facebook page.

The Baltimore-Ashkelon Partnership is making incredible steps, thanks to its strategic planning process. This month we completed our Request for Proposal form! Now, organizations wishing to plan and implement people-to-people programming can apply for funding. To read about our criteria for funding or to receive an electronic RFP, click here. We are absolutely thrilled to take further steps toward strengthening the ties between Baltimore and Ashkelon.

Welcome Dor Trainic and Ronit Pinsky! Dor has arrived, full of spirit and love of Israel (Ronit will be here next month). Dor and Ronit can’t wait to educate the young and the old at our day schools, Hebrew schools and through informal education. Check out Dor and Ronit on the web – on their Facebook page, their blog, and even THE ASSOCIATED website!
